After watching the testimony I find this piece fairly biased. I agree with dr. Fauci we likely didn't create COVID-19. That said they were funding gain of function research as senator Paul stated. How that interplay's I have no idea but the assertion that the us never funded gain of function seems untrue. I do think this article does a good job trying to explain the nuances of the science, but should not conclude it was not gain of function research because there was an order to destroy viruses that gained function. That doesn't negate the fact that viruses were gaining function.
