Wake and Bake

Wake and Bake

A fresh loaf, a quick swim, and a grateful morning.

There's something magical about waking up and forming and baking a fresh loaf of bread. Several years ago for Father's Day my wife and kids got me a shirt with a logo that says "Wake and Bake." It's cute, and it reflects what I do several times a week.

This morning after waking up and getting in a quick swim, I went to the kitchen and pulled my dough out of the ceramic dough proofing pots I made. (I'll put a link to those on the blog once I get the new prototype ironed out.) I formed the whole wheat dough into a beautiful baguette, let it rise for an hour, and baked it at 450 degrees. A beautiful, healthy sourdough whole wheat loaf.

Magical with butter and strawberry jam.

What a blessing to be able to use the things God has given us — materials and knowledge — and make great things. So grateful.
